Start A Mobile Phone Consultanting Business

This is an idea that I came up with for my nephew. He worked for a major electronic retailer that also sold mobile phones. He is well versed and knowledgeable about all the currents makes and models on the market today. When he left that position, being an advocate of black entrepreneurship that I am, I suggested he go into business for himself. There are tons of people, primarily individuals over 30 who have been forced to carry a mobile phone whether it is for work or just to keep up with their families. Many of these people only know the basics of how the phone works and don’t have the time or energy to figure these now complicated contraptions out. They also was under educated on how mobile phone plans work in regards to if they are getting the best deal for their budgets or how to read a bill when it comes and are being overcharged as a result.

This is where again the Savvy African American Entrepreneur comes in to save the day and make some money. My nephew was already very knowledgeable in this field but with the advent of something called the internet, you get access to owner manuals for every make and model out there. Even better a lot of service providers will show you online how to read a bill and properly identify what is the best plans available for you. Now you might say if this is true than why would people need a Mobile Phone consultant. The answer is simple and one I have already stated. Most don’t have the time or where with all to take on this task.

If you focus in on these individuals, this is a sure fire money maker because there is little or no competition in this business. If start this business and do it well, it could lead to bigger earning opportunities. You can move up to the business client who carry around Blackberries and you can help them “sync” their phones to their computers. Or you can scale down and focus on lets say the Active Seniors who need mobile phones because they travel a lot and want to keep in touch with families. You can program all of their important phone numbers and set up one touch dialing if they don’t’ know how. The possibilities are endless in this hi-tech world.

Start A Credit Counseling Business

Unfortunately the economic crisis has put a lot of people in financial straights . People who once had good or decent credit are seeing their credit rating being destroyed. Many have been laid off and can no longer afford to pay even the minimum balance on their credit cards or have fallen behind on their car payments. These people probably never had a need for this service but are now actively looking. This has provided an opening for anyone who is looking for a recession proof business.

You don't have to have a degree in finance or have a license to help those in need. All you need is the willingness to know how to help other maneuver the confusing world of credit and collections. Their are many free resources online that will outline to the Savvy Entrepreneur on not only how to effectively help other repair their credit but how to start a credit repair business. There are many large companies that offer this service and you may think that would cut you out of successfully carving out a place for the small business owner but that is not true. There is a niche of customers who like to do business with people they can interact with on a face to face basis.

Target these people. It can be as simple as offering services to churches in your community or leave business cards everywhere including with local bank managers, car dealers or real estate agents who deal with people who fail to get loans based on their credit. Once you have established yourself as a competent Credit Counselor, the sky is the limit. Remember these people are more than likely are struggling financially and you will be another expense that they think they can't afford. Your job is to point out to them how invaluable your services are and how they will benefit. So for the Savvy African American Entrepreneur with the desire to not only make a decent living but help others, this is a good business to start.

Start A Recession Proof Business

I have not written on this blog for quite a while because real life kind of got in the way but since the economic crisis which many of us have already been suffering under has been front and center, I decided to recommit to this blog. With unemployment rate steadily climbing many people are looking for alternate ways of making money just to make ends meet. Lately I have been spending time on a very popular political progressive blog site called dailykos, which has been a beacon for those who are supporting change and the Obama Platform. Although it is a political blog, real life stories of people being laid off or not being able to find employment has spurned me anew.

The big question that many people are asking is: "Is now a good time to start a business when money is short and our country is the midst of an economic crisis?" I'm biased because I believe other than a being educated in a highly niched marked, entrepreneurship, especially in the African American community is the only way to grab a hold of the "American Dream". I have listed quite a few business on my blogs that on second look can be formated for the new economy. My blog will now focus on business that can be considered recession proof or just good business to start in this climate. Good luck to all of you looking to break out of the 9 to 5 or just want to obtain a measure of success through personal acheivement.

Start An Image Consultanting Business

Are you into fashion and etiquette? Are you well dressed, well spoken and able to help others model in your foot steps? If so, this is another great business for the Savvy African American Entrepreneur. Let’s face it. No matter how you slice or dice it, we live a world that focus on looks. You can be the best in your field or profession but if you don’t look the part, more times than not people will not give you the chance to prove yourself. Whether it is in the corporate world, the entertainment industry, if you are in business for yourself or just in the market for romance. How you present yourself matters.

This is where your talents come in handy. You can teach a seminar on image and its importance or you can take on individual clients and work with them one on one to help improve their circumstance. Whether it is going on a job interview or getting ready for their first date. This business has little to no competition because most people don’t see the need for this service but it will be your job to show them the advantages of having an Image Consultant. I may not need one on call but there are times when I am going to a big event or a job interview that I would love the idea of having someone with a good eye for fashion to help me out.

And as I always I want to remind you:

Don’t overlook the African American Market! We need all the help we can get when it comes to leveling the playing field especially when it comes to the business world. You primarily focus on African Americans in the job market wishing for a leg up on the competition even if it’s another African American job candidate. If we go to a job interview, looking our best and have the etiquette and mannerisms that will put us over the top, why not take advantage of it.
